For the past few weeks, we've been talking about website design and changes you can make to your website to drive leads for your business. These are all very important but if your prospects can’t find you on the internet, then no matter what your site looks like, your business is invisible.
Here are three upgrades you can make to your “Get Found” efforts. The good news is you can do these things today and increase traffic tomorrow.
Add Video – People love video and Google knows it. The screen shot here illustrates page 1 rankings for one of our client's videos. They achieved page 1 ranking in 48 hours with this video and have maintained that ranking since January of 2010.
Post the video in the right spot, tag it appropriately, use the right terms in the descriptive text and make sure the script has the right keywords and you too can see these kinds of results. Google is now analyzing video with voice to text recognition software and ranking search returns on the actual soundtrack of your videos.
Blog – Google ranks websites and website content based on “freshness.” This means how recently new text was added can have a significant impact on search engine results page (SERP) placement. Let’s face it: most of us don’t add new pages to our websites every day but, with a blog, adding new content regularly is easy. You see, every new blog post IS ACTUALLY A NEW PAGE on your site so, the more you blog, the more your site will rank and the more traffic your site will see.
Social Media – Who isn’t talking about social media? It’s so easy to dismiss social media as "not right for your business." In reality it's right for every business because businesses are getting found on social media in addition to Google, Yahoo and Bing. Equally good to know is that the search engines are ranking your business based on content found on LinkedIn, Facebook, Yelp, Pinterest, YouTube and other social sites. If you don’t have content on those sites, it's much harder to get found.
Of course, there are other tactics we use to help clients get found, but these three are easy to implement, easy to keep updated and easily deliver the fastest results.
