2020 Is Going To Be A Year We All Remember; Here’s How Square 2 Is Going To Remember It

We’re all going to look back at 2020 and have some specific memories. Unfortunately, most won’t be great, and there’s no need to go back and relive those. But for some of us, 2020 is going to have some positive memories, and for my last blog article in 2020, I’d like to focus on those.

It’s easy to say stay positive, look on the bright side or make lemonade from lemons. But those clichés don’t always resonate, especially when tough times stretch on for months and months.

However, when I look back at 2020, there were moments of positivity that I think can be significant in terms of growth both professionally and personally for businesses and the people who work at those companies.

Here are some positive reflections on 2020 from the team at Square 2.

We Extended Our Family

At Square 2, one of our core values is team = family. In 2020, we’ve grown our family. We’ve hired new team members. We’ve grown our extended team and created a blend of team members that allows us to deliver exceptional service and lightning-fast results for our clients.

Of our new team members, more than a few of them have turned out to be important contributors, people we trust and, more importantly, people who are trusted resources for our clients to lean on.

Thank you to our new team members. Your contribution in 2020 is appreciated, and we're thrilled you're all part of our family.

We Worked More Closely With Our Clients

Back in the spring, when the sky was falling, we made a concerted effort to get closer to our clients. This paid off. We helped them navigate uncharted waters and manage through 2020. Many of them are in a much better position today than they were when we first met them.

Part of that effort was to form close relationships with our clients, and in some cases, those relationships have blossomed into friendships. Today, we can honestly say that we’re personal friends with more than a few of them.

Thank you to our clients past, present and future. We appreciate you, your companies and your business, and we look forward to working with all of you for a long time.

We Formed New Partnerships

We formed some new partnerships, and those have produced very positive experiences and new friendships with new companies that will blossom in 2021 and beyond.

New technology partners, new delivery partners, new back-office partners and new strategic partners have all formed in 2020. It’s possible that these will, when we look back, be some of the most important relationships for our company, and we might not have come to work with these special people had it not been for this year’s unique challenges.

Thank you to all our partners, new and existing. We would not be the company we are today without all of you.

We Did More For Our Team Members

We doubled down on all the people at Square 2, pushing our distributed model, our cultural imperatives and our ability to stay connected through a variety of challenges this year. I think in some regards our team today is the strongest team we’ve had in years.

We spent more time together as a team (even though it was through Zoom). We spent more energy nurturing our own culture. We spent more time talking to team members as people and getting to know them and their families as people.

Your company is only as strong as the people who work there, and we’ve made some significant progress in this area during 2020.

Thank you to all our team members. We could not have had the year we had without you, and we're excited to see where you'll take us in 2021.

We Talked To A Lot Of Prospective Clients

When Square 2 was born, we had the idea that we could help people figure out how to market their companies and how to then leverage that into growth for their businesses.

At the core of this effort was the idea that we could help people.

In 2020, we helped a lot of people. We talked to over 1,000 companies in 2020. Whether we worked with them or not, whether they were a fit for us or whether they decided to work with someone else, we provided them the no-fluff advice and the guidance they would need to make the changes necessary to reach their goals.

We will always provide the right advice and the necessary recommendations for any business that comes to us asking for help, insight and the benefit of our experience. Regardless of the direction their journey takes them, we’ll give them the help they need.

Thank you to all the people at all the companies we've met this year. You've challenged us to be a better agency. We appreciate your journey and we're hopeful our paths will cross again.
